Our heroes don’t wear capes or have superpowers, but they are determined to rid our town centre and neighbourhoods of unsightly graffiti!
Every year we employ contractors to tackle the larger areas such as underpasses and walls, and we have a volunteer council led team who clean the more accessible, smaller areas such as bins, lampposts, and utility cabinets.
Councillor Tony Lack has led the charge for many years and has now passed the baton onto Councillor Andy Croy. Since May 2024 the team has removed over 600 pieces of graffiti. It’s a thankless task as some do reappear overnight, but we are engaging with key stakeholders across the town so that graffiti tags and hotspots are monitored and perpetrators caught and fined. Hopefully this will help us all get to the source of the problem quicker.
