This small urban park has gone through an extraordinary transformation. It was neglected, overgrown and vandalism prone, but due to the amazing efforts of the volunteers who formed the Friends of Howard Palmer Gardens, today this is a thriving, well-visited community park.
The tired, old borders have been redeveloped and replaced with sustainable, drought-tolerant, pollinator-friendly planting schemes which provide year-round interest in the garden. More recently, the ecological value of the garden has improved with the development of a dead hedge, bug hotel and log piles.
The garden displays lilac and pink hues in full bloom to create a calm, cooling and welcoming environment.
