Matt, a Watch Manager at Wokingham Fire Station reached out to Wokingham in Bloom with the concept of creating a space where local firefighters could relax and unwind, and have a safe space to have a heart-to-heart with a colleague or discuss the details of their most recent incident.
Constructing the garden was a collaborative effort, making use of old equipment and recycled timber.
Every planter is made out of recycled pallets and all the pollinator friendly plants, heritage fruit trees and shrubs were donated to the project.
The team has a newly installed wormery, donated compost tumbler and a brand new water butt.
Local residents are encouraged to use the space, and the garden area recently hosted a visit from a local school.
