Wokingham Town Council maintains eight parks and open spaces for the benefit of the community.

Elms Field
- Elms field is a busy town centre park
- A large children’s adventure play area is located in the north of the park
- A water bottle refill fountain is located in nearby Alexandra Court
- A defibrillator is located on the wall of Nuffield Health in Alexandra Court
- There are examples of public art in the park
- The park hosts town council and community events in the summer months, include Party in the Park and Theatre in the Park

Howard Palmer Gardens
- Howard Palmer Gardens is a small town centre park located behind Cockpit Path carpark
- The park features picnic benches and seating
- The main grassed area features a sundial designed by the pupils of Emmbrook School
- The gardens are maintained by the volunteer group ‘The Friends of Howard Palmer Gardens’

Joel Park and Holt Copse
Key features of the park:
- Joel Park is a 23 acre site and a designated Local Nature Reserve (LNR) located between Holt Lane and Jubilee Avenue
- Wokingham Town Council works in close co-operation with the Holt Copse Conservation Volunteers to maintain the site
- Holt Copse is an area of ancient semi-natural woodland, part of the larger woodland of Joel Park
- The park contains an area of wet grassland with abundant cuckoo flower and bluebells in spring, and a large noctule bat roost
- A children’s play area is located at the Holt Lane end of the park

King George V Playing Field
- King George V Playing Field is located off Goodchild Road
- This is a 5 acre park of mainly open grassland
- There is a children’s play area, which received a full refurbishment and reopened in February 2022 with inclusive play equipment
- There are permanent goal posts for an informal kick about
- This park is held in trust and managed by Wokingham Town Council

Langborough Recreation Ground
- Langborough Recreation Ground is situated between Gipsy Lane and Fairview Road
- This 5 acre site is part registered as a village green
- It is notable for its avenue of Tilia Cordata, the small leaf lime trees
- The park hosts the town council’s Fun Day, an event held for children every May
- A children’s play area is located at the Gipsy Lane end of the park

Leslie Sears Playing Field
- Leslie Sears Playing Field is located off Reeves Way, Crail Close and Robert’s Grove and is adjacent to Viking Field
- This is a 7 acre park of mainly open grassland
- There is a children’s play area, separated into older and younger children’s areas
- Also provided is a basketball hoop, with integral goal posts for practicing your ball skills
- A footpath was installed in 2022 to help facilitate children walking to school across the field
- This park is held in trust and managed by Wokingham Town Council

Redlands Farm Park
- Tucked away down Evendons Lane, this peaceful 11 acre park is used mainly by dog walkers
- There are beautiful views from the top of the park over Finchampstead
- A ‘Countryside for All’ gate has been installed for easier access
- There are two magnificent specimen Oak trees in the field
- On site parking is provided at this location, off Evendons Lane

Viking Field
- The field is located off Evendons Lane, adjacent to Leslie Sears
- It is a large open space with a natural grass meadow.
- The park was bequeathed to the Wokingham Borough Council in 1997 by Mrs Henagulph and is managed by the Town Council.
- Plans are underway to create a community orchard in one corner of the site, outside the grass meadow
Problems?
The parks and play areas are inspected regularly, and remedial works are scheduled as required. This would include maintenance work to play equipment, and also tree works to remove any diseased or unsafe trees and plant replacements.
